| PRIZE "House of Representatives of the Principality of Asturias (JGPA) - Notice of Summons 2005
The International
Society of Bioethics (SIBI) under the sponsorship of the Junta General
del Principado de Asturias (House of Representatives of the Principality
of Asturias - JGPA), Spain, summons this Prize on Bioethics for the year
2005 on the following basis:
The papers will deal with: “Disability and Society” — The Prize is endowed
with 9.000 Euros (pre-tax) and Diploma. The winning paper will be
published in English and in Spanish
The papers will be submitted to International
Society of Bioethics (SIBI) For information purposes with
regard to this summons only:

34 37 — To compete for the Prize, papers must be unpublished originals (doctoral
thesis, newspaper articles or papers which have been published already
shall be turned down); they must be in SIBI's headquarters by October
31st, 2005 at the latest. The papers can be submitted in either English
or Spanish; in written format dinA4, in standard printing. The length of the papers will range between 80 to a maximum of 200 pages and a maximum of 40.000 wprds.
The papers must be in binding and a Word-format diskette copy is to be
provided. In addition, and in a closed envelope, on which a PSEUDONYM
must be displayed, the author/s of the paper will include their complete
name/s and address/es. The front cover of the paper submitted must exhibit,
in addition to the TITLE, the same PSEUDONYM as that on the envelope enclosed,
whereby the author/s can be readily identified once the Selection Board
have decided on the paper awarded with the Prize.
— The
Members of the Selection Board and Jury to award the Prize will
be Mr. Marcelo Palacios, President of SIBI's Scientific Committee (Gijón,
Spain), Ms. Victoria Camps (Barcelona, Spain), Mr. Maurice Dooley (Göttingen,
Germany) and Ms. Francoise Shenfield (London, United Kingdom). The Board will
not sustain contact
with potential nominees unless on occasion of notice to the winner/s
of the Prize and to the President of The House of Representatives
of the Principality of Asturias.
— The Jury will award the Prize in December 2005, and follow by the opening of the envelope to disclose the identity of the winner/s who, in turn, shall receive ready notice. The Jury is endowed with authority to declare that the Prize will not be awarded. Should that be the case, the prize-money allocated to the present edition will add to that of the upcoming edition of the Prize — The Prize will be delivered during a formal ceremony at the House of Representatives Palace, and the date (beginning of 2006) will be duly informed of in time. — Both the notice
of summons and the final decision reached by the Jury will be widely publicized, namely through the Web Site of SIBI and that
of the House of Representatives (Junta General del Principado de Asturias).
— Non selected papers shall not be returned. — Participation implies that the author/s of papers submitted agree to the terms herein expressed. |
